Last Breath: Chris Lemons's incredible experience as a diver

Last Breath

Last Breath: Last Breath: The British survival drama Last Breath focuses on Chris Lemons, a commercial diver. Directed by Alex Parkinson, who also created the documentary of the same title recently released on Afdah, the film features a script co-written by David Brooks and Mitchell LaFortune.

In September 2012, Chris Lemons (Finn Cole) was engaged in restoring oil rig structures at a North Sea oil field. On that critical day, he and his colleagues, Dave (Simu Liu) and Duncan (Woody Harrelson), were lowered over a hundred meters into the dark depths of the ocean in their diving bell.

While attempting to repair a pipe on the seabed, the ship unexpectedly drifted away due to severe winds, following a malfunction of the computer system that was supposed to keep it in position. Although Dave and Duncan managed to return to the diving bell, Chris found himself trapped and isolated, with only a limited supply of oxygen. A rescue operation was initiated, but there was no guarantee that Chris would be saved in time. The situation was further complicated by the emotional weight of his wife waiting at home and the imminent arrival of their first child.

Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu bring depth and strength to their roles as Duncan and Dave, while Finn Cole portrays Chris Lemons as a relatable protagonist. Despite their supporting roles, both actors have moments that highlight their talents. Given that much of the film takes place underwater, the aquatic scenes are impressively executed. Additionally, Last BreathAfdah Info effectively builds suspense, featuring numerous tense moments throughout the narrative and vividly showcasing the camaraderie among the divers.
